The framework for the Competitive Barrel Racers Association (COBRA) was formed by a woman in
Colorado back in 1993. This woman, Kathe Moser, had the desire to form an alliance designed to give barrel racers back their competitive drive. This gave origin to the Classification System where riders and their horses are assessed as individuals that come together to make a team. This team then competes with other teams at the same level. This allows each team to run for the fastest time in their League.
Over a decade of success carries the new COBRA to an area where the Classification System can bring a larger group of competitors together. With COBRA’s new headquarters based in the heart of barrel racing country, we are excited to make Texas our new home. Please take time to get to know COBRA’s President/ CEO and former Membership Director, Charmaine Newkirk. Along with her husband Michael, they are working hard to bring a new concept to the barrel racing world. Enjoy our family-like atmosphere and user-friendly website. We’ll see you at the barrel race!
